Marketplaces, throughout history, have played an integral role within each diverse community worldwide, seeing business infused with livelihood and culture. When comparing various marketplaces from different regions, it becomes clear that the human experience precedes architecture, where the built environment is simply a playground for these interactions. Therefore, my focus for my portion of the marketplace was highlighting the ‘Pillars of Society’: ‘nurture’, ‘learn’, ‘grow’, ‘express’, ‘play’, ‘create’ and ‘listen’. These ‘pillars’ aim to harness and propel the joys and skills of the community, where the spaces between are design to generate and capture activity. Human life is the most vital ingredient of the marketplace, where the spirit is anything but invisible.
